This morning a brush fire broke out around 11:30 am about 4 miles east of Antonio Parkway. The brush fire has grown to 250 acres.

The Irony in the matter is that the fire started due to fire prevention efforts. A tractor was "disking"(cutting the surface of the soil) and according to officials the fire began when the tractor knocked down a power pole with a transformer on top of it. The downed transformer caught the brush on fire.

At this time the Ortega Highway is open and fire officials are hoping for full containment by tomorrow with an improvement in the weather conditions.
