Snakes in the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park

Here are some photographs of the snakes Ashley and I saw today while hiking at the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park in the South Coast Wilderness. We saw one red diamondback rattlesnake between 4 and 5 feet and two different patch-nosed snakes.  One of the patch-nosed snakes was between 2 and 3 feet and the other was between 1 and 1.5 feet.  It is always pretty cool to see the neat animals in their natural habitat.  Happy Trails!

  2. the snake was 4 to 5 feet crossing the dirt road. Similar color to the dry surroundings. Could have been a rosy boa but had a more zigzag pattern. thick, rounded in the mid section. Was very awesome to watch as snake slowly crossed the dirt rd.
