Top Trails Los Angeles (Book Review)

When Ashley and I first began hiking, we didn't know were to start to learn about local trails, so we bought a hiking book. Top Trails Los Angeles was the first hiking book that we bought. In my opinion, at times there is something to be said for having a print version of hiking trails to read about. Top trails Los Angeles has collected a trail sampler of the greater Los Angeles area. It is well designed and gives thoughtful in site on what to expect when hiking particular trails. The book primarily focuses on the Santa Monica Mountains and Angeles National Forest. The book has write-ups for 9 hikes in the Orange County area and has write-ups for 3 hikes in the San Bernardino National Forest. The book has a total of 48 trail write-ups in the greater Los Angeles area. I would recommend Top Trails Los Angeles as a good hiking book/trail guide, if you are in the market for a one that provides a sample of trails in Southern California. If you are looking for a more heavily focused book on Orange County or elsewhere, you might want to try another one.
