Grizzly Bear National Monument

David Whiting had a very interesting article today in the Orange County Register about a group hoping to propose the Grizzly Bear National Monument for the 165,000-acre Trabuco District of the Cleveland National Forest. The article is well worth the read if you get the chance to look at it. The picture above is from the top of Saddleback Mountain(Santiago Peak) looking over the Trabuco District of the Cleveland National Forest. The photograph below is from the register article and is of the last Grizzly Bear that was killed in Orange County. The Grizzly Bear was killed in Holy Jim Canyon in 1908 and is on display in the Smithsonian. To read the article click Here.
