Wilderness Access Day & Shoestring Trail Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Here is some information for those that want to attend the new opening of the Shoestring Trail during the Limestone Canyon Wilderness Access Day. 
Join 3rd District Supervisor Bill Campbell, OC Parks and the Irvine Ranch Conservancy for the opening of the newest trail in the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks, the Shoestring Trail! The day will include a short and attendance optional ribbon-cutting ceremony starting at 9 a.m., followed by the monthly Wilderness Access Day in beautiful Limestone Canyon. Participants will be the first to explore this new trail and also enjoy self-guided access in Limestone Canyon. Designated trails will be open for self-guided hiking, biking and equestrian fun from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Even though the pre-registration for this program has been filled, walk-up participants will be admitted on the day of the event!

Upon arrival, all participants MUST check in and register at the Augustine Staging Area prior to accessing the trail system.

Trail users are allowed to enter the wilderness trails up to one hour prior to closing time and no later, which is 2pm on the day of the event. The park and trails close at 3 p.m. Youth ages 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, distance and level of difficulty dependent on trail. Bikers are required to wear helmets. Dogs are prohibited. Pre-registration has filled up on the website, but on-site registration is available the day of the event. Inclement weather will cancel. Participants will receive a trail map upon check-in.
