Here is some information if you are interested in doing a local full moon hike at the Donna O'Neill Conservancy. Doing a guided full moon hike is a great way to see our local wilderness areas in a completely different setting. The above picture is from when Ashley and I did a full moon hike in Laurel Canyon in the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. Note, guided full moon hikes tend to fill up quickly.
Where: The Richard and Donna O’Neill Conservancy, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
Date: August 13, 2011
Time: 7:30pm–9:30pm.
Description: Everything changes at the Conservancy after dark. Watch for bats flying overhead, listen for owls and hear the cacophony of nocturnal insects. Participants will hike Middle Ridge to catch the rising of the full moon. This is a moderately hard hike. Participants can bring binoculars or a telescope for a closer view of the moon.
