Mt. San Jacinto Natural History Association Photo Contest

The Mt. San Jacinto Natural History Association is having a photo contest. This contest is for amateur photographers to enter photographs taken in Mt. San Jacinto State Park. The contest runs from April 1st to October 31, 2011. Entries will be judged and prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each category. Winning photos will be displayed in the Mt. San Jacinto NHA Visitor Center in the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway mountain station from November 24, 2011 until January 31, 2012. A great hike in this area is the hike to the top of Mt. San Jacinto.

Who May Enter: The contest is open to amateur photographers only. Entrants must be legal residents of the United State of America who are 18 years of age at the time of entry. Employees of the California Department of Parks and Recreation and judges of this contest are not eligible to enter.What to EnterPhotographs must be taken within Mt. San Jacinto State Park. The photograph should demonstrate good stewardship of the mountains by depicting APPROVED VISITOR USE FOR ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS and park resource protection per State Park regulations. The photograph should not include any people or privately owned buildings. The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant. Photographs can be entered in the following three categories: plants, animals, or scenic shots. 

By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph. The photograph must not, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content. 

Contest Prizes: There will be a 1st and 2nd place prize awarded in each of the three categories: Plants, Animals, and Scenic. First place prizes will be two adult tickets for the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Second place prizes will be gift certificates for merchandise in the Mt. San Jacinto Visitor Center. Sponsor reserves the right to change contest prizes prior to the end of the contest. 

Where manipulation is not permitted: no elements of the image may be moved, cloned, added, deleted, rearranged, or combined. The only manipulations or modifications permitted are resizing, cropping, selective lightening or darkening, and restoration of original color of the scene. No special effect filters can be applied. Any changes, including sharpening, must appear natural.
