June 7 – Geology and Natural History Hike

Step back 25 million years in Orange County’s history to a
time when the seas receded and the San Andreas Fault was just starting to form.
With a Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalist, discover the geologic
processes going on today and how they affect the natural landscape. This
moderate 3-mile hike is over uneven, steep and sometimes rocky terrain with a
300-ft elevation gain.

Dr. Sue Van Vorhis Key, Ph.D., has a zoo full of amazing
live insects and other arthropods, from walking sticks to scorpions. Look and
learn! You can even touch an insect! Experience an insect scavenger hunt in the
shade of the sycamores. Make your own insect! Complete a life cycle puzzle.

Kids’ Fishing Clinic

OC Parks would like to invite you and your kids to a fun
morning of fishing at Clark Regional Park. This Kids' Fishing Clinic (ages 15
and under) is designed to teach kids how to fish, while giving them an
opportunity to catch a few from the lake. The lake will be stocked with catfish
and there will be a two-fish limit. Prizes will be available for the largest
fish caught!

7:15 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.
In the spring, snakes emerge from their winter dens, warm
themselves in the sun, and begin to wander the hills in search of prey. They
will be active until the weather cools again in the late fall. Join Steve
Bledsoe of The North American Field Herping Association to see live snakes and
also enjoy a presentation about our local snakes. Bring your curiosity and your
questions. Learn to tell the venomous from non-venomous snakes.

Now is a great time to start a new fitness routine beginning
with an easy 2.5-mile hike over moderate but uneven terrain to Barbara’s Lake
and back (45-ft. elevation gain). Join Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer and
registered dietitian to learn about fitness and nutrition during this 1.5-hour
hike.

June 27 – Long Distance Hike in the Back Country

Explore the beauty and diversity of Willow Canyon, Bommer
Ridge, and Emerald Canyon in the backcountry of the Laguna Coast Wilderness
Park. This will be a strenuous, 7.2-mile hike (650-ft. elevation gain) over
rocky, steep, and uneven terrain. We will hike through sycamore and oak
woodlands, coastal sage scrub, and along ridges with beautiful vistas.
Participants should be fit and able to hike long distances.

June 28 – Family Bandito Bike Ride to Dripping Cave

Join a band of bike wielding young explorers on a ride to Aliso’s
most intriguing attraction. We’ll learn the mysterious legends of this famed
bandit hideout as well as its previous inhabitants- the native Acjachamen
people. Earn a Ranger badge for being an accomplice on the journey.
